Nissan issues...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In December 2017 I purchased a pre-owned 2009 Nissan Versa. It was in great shape and drove beautifully. Less than a year in, I had to send it in for an airbag recall. Shortly after I had to replace my exhaust system. Now, out of the blue, the transmission failed miserably (no warning). I spoke to Nissan HQ and was told the warranty had expired at 200k kms and/or 10 years. Why was there no recall on the cvt transmission?!!! Nissan is fully aware there is an issue and is very costly (it will cost me more to fix it than the car is worth). I am left to bus it until I can save up. Never buying a Nissan again.

How is that on nissan? The car is almost 10 years old and you bought it.

Its easier to deflect blame than take responsibility. Buy smarter next time.

The cvt transmission problem IS Nissan's issue. Many complaints and lawsuits in the U.S.

Instead of extending the warranty (twice) they should have placed a recall. In my case I expect things to go wrong with a 10 year old car.

But some kind of warning (a check engine light, noise...anything) would have been helpful rather than having no acceleration on the highway. Never been so frightened!

A cvt transmission is weak but guess what? Its cheap and Im sure you didn't think of that when you purchased the car.

Doing any research on this on high mileage cvt searches will show this.

Youre hilarious asking for a recall on this. I would do some constructive thinking while you ride the bus on your next car purchase.

The transmission issues are still very present with all their vehicles.

I've bought a Nissan Rogue 2019 SL in February 2019 at Nissan Chateauguay. The car seems to have many issues, which isn't the dealership's fault per say. Mainly transmission issues that has caused me many headaches. It was at the dealer for over 1 month at one point during the last year. Still not fixed and now other issues are being raised. (Roof cracking / Steering wheel issues, etc.). For a vehicle that I've had for only 9 months, I've already been at the dealer 6-7 times. The transmission is still not fixed. I've read a lot about Nissan transmissions creating a lot of issues and failing but never though is was that bad. At the dealership I also told him that I was sceptic about the transmissions but he assured me they got a lot better and that these are issues of the past (models 2008 to 2013 only). Seems like it isn't the case. I should have listened to my gut feeling and went with another vehicle... My transmission issue is still present and I am still having to call the dealership every second day to inquire if they found a solution to the transmission issue. As they refused to replace it and have sent questions to their "Toronto engineering team".

saying the problem was 09-13 is a lie I bought a 2014 Altima Demo almost brand new and had to have a transmission replacement before 20,000 kms, this is a serious problem because it’s not even been five years I’ve had the car and it’s parked on my driveway rotting away because Nissan said unfortunately my warranty expired in March so I have to repair the transmission from my pockets, this needs to stop because only the consumer loses and it’s not a new problem so Nissan clearly don’t care

I would never in my life purchase a Nissan vehicle again, I bought a 2014 Nissan Altima brand new and had to change the transmission at 17,000 Kms. Got the vehicle back and then at 76,000 it was gone again. Now in the space of four years this is going to be my third transmission repair that Nissan refuse to pay for because the vehicle is now out of warranty, this is a problem with all cvt transmissions and clearly they know about it and just dont care they will never get my money again

Bought a new 2018 Nissan 370z. So far I have taken it in under warrantee for various repairs approximately 20 times. Something wrong with this car. Complained to Nissan about the ongoing issues and Nissan Canada says just keep getting the dealer to repair it. It is dangerous, unreliable, poorly engineered.

Nissan Canada - Does not stand behind warranty WARNING
Had a part break on a fairly new 2019 Nissan Rogue. 2 Weeks later , same part broke. They wont replace it. It's Nissans policy not to replace a part more than once. All you get is a scripted, "We understand how you feel", but they wont do anything about it. DO NOT buy a Nissan.

Ongoing ordeal .

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I will describe ongoing ordeal , after a purchase of a Nissan vehicle from a Nissan Dealer .

Beginning of September 2019 bought a Nissan from Nissan Dealer , after completing the transaction noticed that the car was not in perfect drivable condition . The next day picked up the car with the issue resolved .

However that is the beginning , next day driving on Hwy 403 the tail light flew off (literately) . Back to the dealer for replacement , done .

After last incident , took very close look at the vehicle , noticed that instrument panel ( warning/indicator lights ) one of them is not displaying the status , according to the manual provided , it should . As is related to engine cooling system , can not be taken lightly .

Back again , replaced sensor , did not resolve the problem of instrument panel . Was told that some models have the option some do not .

Went to seek second opinion from another dealership , the conclusion is that no one can determine if the part is faulty or is designed as such .

Reach to Nissan Canada via e-Mail and 1-80*-387-**** , what a colossal waist of time .

The person on the other end proved only that they can read , and read from a document which is not specific to my vehicle .

As of today no one at Nissan can give me an answer if the part is faulty or not , and by doing so I do not have the knowledge if driving the car posed risk on the road .

When the tail light flew off the driver behind manage to avoid it , however I do not know if I will be able to see potential warning while driving the car ,because so far no one at Nissan can determine if the part in question works or not , and that is playing with fire .
